This week we have been learning about capacity and linking it to our topic about The Sheffield Floods. We have been estimating different containers capacity and then testing them in the water tray.
At the end of the week we got to go outside to explore capacity.
We got into groups and drew different buildings around Sheffield on the ground, using chalk.
We then got given two containers to predict which one would make the biggest puddle. We flooded our drawings and drew around our puddles to see which was the biggest and therefore held the most capacity!
We had some brilliant drawings including Asda, Sheffield University, Toys R Us and Fit Space!
In Year 1 this week we have been writing some amazing mini beast descriptions in the style of Giles Andrae’s ‘mad about minibeasts’. Here are a couple of them, can you guess what minibeast they are describing?

Here are the fabulous photos
This week we are naming and describing 2d and 3d shapes!
We have already learnt some new 3d shapes that even Miss Fry and Mrs Hubbard didn’t even know!
Then we went shape hunting in the ice outside!
